Event Details

On June 8th 2023, the Damen Shipyards Group opens its doors to members of DBAV/NVCC and its relations, for a company visit & shipyard tour. This is a unique opportunity for a rarely given insight into Damen Shipyards: one of The Netherlands' most renowned companies. Visitors will learn about Damen Shipyards history, its special relation to Vietnam, and the amazing product Damen builds: high tech ships that operate all around the world.

The world-famous Dutch Damen Shipyards Group is a shipbuilding company based in Gorinchem , South Holland , the Netherlands. The group does business in 120 countries, and operates many shipyards abroad, of which one shipyard in Haiphong, Vietnam. Damen Shipyards is a long-standing member of the Dutch Business Association Vietnam and Netherlands Vietnam Chamber of Commerce, as well as a Silver Sponsor to the association.

Damen has a special relation with Vietnam, where its joint venture Damen Song Cam is based. Operating from the up-and-coming Haiphong, Damen Song Cam is a joint venture between Damen Shipyards Group (70%) from the Netherlands and Song Cam (30%), part of Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (SBIC) from Vietnam.

Within the Damen group, Damen Song Cam is the preferred production location for standard tugs and workboats up to 60 meters long. The yard is renowned for its exceedingly high standards of HSEQ and for state-of-the-art facilities, including a climate-controlled paint shop, and for its production line delivery of high quality, proven vessels. Damen Song Cam is one of the most eye catching "Foreign Dutch Investment" companies in Vietnam.

The mission of Damen Song Cam is to become the world's biggest workboat factory producing top-quality vessels in the most efficient way against a competitive cost price.

Agenda

In recent years in Haiphong, a small eco-system of mostly Dutch suppliers to the Vietnamese shipyard have settled in, that supply high-tech products to (mainly) Damen Song Cam.
